Mother’s day

Mother's Day is a special time to honor those that raised us, encouraged us and loved us! Mike and I are so grateful for our mothers and their support over the years. Check out our quick interviews below where we answer some questions about our moms!

Mike

What is a favorite memory with your mom from when you were a kid and how has your mom impacted your career?

Some of my fondest memories of my mom growing up when I was a little kid are cooking and baking. We used to make cookies and egg rolls or curry chicken, one of my favorite dishes growing up. That translated into my career because when we cooked together, I had to be clean, have an attention to detail and be patient. A lot of that has impacted how I am today. Another big aspect is she always wanted me to spend time with my dad and that alone put my career on a different trajectory. I was able to learn the trade hands on and had a lot more experience than most people in the field. My mom definitely impacted my career and what I know today. So thankful for that. I love her! Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!

What is a favorite memory with your mom from when you were a kid?

Growing up, she would make these nursery rhymes up. One in particular, it was a Caribbean version of a nursery rhyme that had my name in it. That was one of the first things that came to my mind as a really great memory that I had growing up and it just gives me the warm and fuzzies and makes me feel really special.

How has your mom impacted your career?

I feel like my mother has impacted my career because I have watched her work really, really hard. I feel like she did it all. She did a lot for our family and I believe that’s why I am the way that I am. She is an immigrant from Tobago in the West Indies. My entire life, she has been a really wonderful provider for our family. Seeing her as an immigrant from the West Indies, come to America with nothing. Her mom died when she was very young and she became the mother of her siblings. Seeing that, it makes sense as to why she worked the way that she did. For me, I feel like I emulated that.
Happy Mother's Day to my amazing, hardworking mom!
